A new look reflects growth at NEP.

In August 2006, we launched a new identity to further evolve our name from "Northeast Photocopy" to "NEP", which is an acronym we and our customers have been using for years. From our humble beginnings in 1962, NEP has grown to be one of the most recognized office automation providers in the Midwest.

We simply felt that due to the changes in our marketplace position, our logo and brand image needed a fresh approach that more accurately embodied the future of our business. We wanted an image that reflected the future, while building on our strong past. Below you'll find a full write-up on the messaging strategy behind our new logo design.

No one ever achieves success alone and at NEP we keep our light burning by passing it on from one team member to the next. Together we always strive for the best in performance, satisfaction and service. Like Olympic athletes, we're always in training to earn our customers' trust and their ongoing business.

In the Olympics, the flame of the torch is lit by focusing the energy of the sun's rays. In modern times, the flame is passed from runner to runner and from country to country to share the enlightenment it symbolizes. Here in our own country, the Statue of Liberty holds a torch above her head to always light the way. We value the meaning behind these symbols.

That's why our new identity is built around the symbol of a torch. To us, the torch embodies the light each of us carries into the world every day. In business and in our personal lives, we are a beacon of energy, change and opportunity. If you look closely, the flame is a rolled piece of paper. We started with single-sheet photographic copies in the early 60s, moved into continual roll photocopies then evolved into document and data management. As for the future, the torch will light the way to show us new directions for communication.

We also intentionally selected lower-case letters for our logo. Our long-time employees and customers know we are a hands-on company and regard every relationship as a partnership. We're not ones to brag or shout from the street corner and we hope the lower case letters continually remind us to have a humble heart.

You'll see that we kept our signature color of blue by incorporating it into the new logo; yet we also introduced a new color, red, to add more design sophistication to our marketing approach.
