When most little girls were playing with friends or running to the park, Nora Jende was looking for her cat, Tiger. Most days, he could be found sleeping in an empty envelope box in her parents' business. And most days, she was helping out. More than 40 years later, Nora is now company president and most of the team members at NEP never met Tiger the cat. But they have been introduced to the same business philosophy her parents taught her.

"My parents emigrated from Germany. My mom learned English by looking at the Sears catalog and Dad worked multiple jobs before starting the American dream. They knew their customers and employees personally and knew that service is a promise kept. I want to keep that promise today and create a business that is living, breathing and a source of security for our team and our customers."

- Nora (Jende) Schulz
  President, NEP
From the NEP Archives.

In 1962, JFK was in office, John Glenn had just orbited the earth, no one had played even one Super Bowl and boxes of paper were stored in the Jende family home. That's because NEP started as most of our customers did - as a small, family-owned business operated out of the home.

In the '60s our hottest technology was a single page copier which almost rendered carbon paper and manual typewriters obsolete. Steve and Anita Jende took the risk that their fledgling business would be able to serve these developing office needs and change with the times.

Four decades later, the times may be different, but our values are still the same. At NEP we keep our light burning by passing it on from one team member to the next. Together we always strive for the best in performance, satisfaction and service. Like Olympic athletes, we're always in training to earn our customers' trust and their ongoing business.
